MGA betting sites are sportsbooks licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority under a Type 2 fixed-odds licence, and every one of them sits in the public register at authorisation.mga.org.mt. For a punter in Australia that licence is a quality signal rather than an invitation: a Malta-licensed book opens accounts where it holds local permission, and Australia issues no online-casino licence at all. So this page does two jobs - it shows the offshore sportsbooks I'd shortlist, and it names the betting companies that genuinely hold Malta paper.

Each site in the table runs its own sportsbook next to the casino lobby and publishes a cashier you can read before you register. Four things decided the order:
A Type 2 licence is the fixed-odds permission inside Malta's B2C Gaming Service licence: the operator sets the odds itself and carries the risk on every bet. The Malta Gaming Authority has run that system since 2001 under the Gaming Act, and the number printed in a bookmaker's footer is checkable in a minute. Two things matter more than the badge: balances have to sit in segregated accounts, and a complaint you can't settle with the operator escalates to the regulator instead of nowhere.

Betsson, Betway, Bet365, Pinnacle, LeoVegas and Casumo are the betting brands most often named with a Malta licence, and the year inside each number says how long that paper has been live. None of them is on my table, none of them pays me, and none is a sign-up route I can promise an Australian. They're here to show what a real Type 2 record looks like.

Online betting is legal for Australians through a bookmaker licensed by a state or territory regulator, and the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 draws two lines around it: online casino games and online in-play betting are prohibited services to provide, while pre-match wagering with a licensed book is not. The act binds operators and advertisers, not punters. Nobody here has been prosecuted for placing a bet offshore, and recreational winnings are generally untaxed.

On an offshore sportsbook that cuts both ways. Live markets stay open after the first whistle, the one product an Australian-licensed book cannot put online - and the trade-off is sitting outside the Australian protections, BetStop included.
A self-exclusion you set with an Australian bookmaker travels no further than the BetStop register, which binds licensed wagering providers only. Offshore books run their own cooling-off and exclusion tools per account, so signing up abroad quietly undoes an exclusion you made at home.
AmunRa runs its sportsbook next to about 6,000 casino games from Pragmatic Play, Evolution, Play'n GO and Hacksaw Gaming, the widest catalogue on this page. It holds accounts in Australian dollars, the minimum deposit is €10, bonus playthrough is 35x, and withdrawals land in one to three days. Its licence is Anjouan, number ALSI-202411077-FI2. Skrill, Neteller, MiFinity, MuchBetter and Neosurf go in; crypto and cards bring money back out. Read the ceilings first - €500 a day and €7,000 a month at the entry level. Fine for weekend multis, tight the day a long accumulator lands.
WestAce clears e-wallet withdrawals inside 24 hours, the quickest window on my table, and it asks for one full turnover of your deposit before that first cash-out. Documents take 24 to 48 hours. Its paperwork is thinner than AmunRa's: WestAce points to a Costa Rica registration, a company filing rather than a gambling regulator's record, so the recourse a Malta record would give you isn't part of the deal. The cashier is the strong part - Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, Revolut, Visa and a dozen coins, plus Zimpler and Siru Mobile.
Betsson is the Malta-licensed operator I measure the others against: licence MGA/B2C/108/2004, run by BML Group out of Ta' Xbiex, with iOS and Android apps and a welcome offer that excludes Skrill and Neteller deposits. I don't link it and it isn't on my table. Put it beside an offshore book, though, and you see what the licence buys - a named regulator to complain to, segregated balances, published terms - and what it costs, because a book with that record only opens accounts where it is allowed to.
Alf Casino carries seven named wallets on top of cards and crypto - Skrill, Neteller, Revolut, Jeton, MiFinity and Paysafecard among them - and keeps balances in Australian dollars. It has been live since 2018, longer than most of this group, with a €10 floor, 35x playthrough and e-wallet payouts inside a day. No licence number appears in its own terms, so treat it as an offshore book whose only track record is its age.
LolaJack asks 20x on bonus plus deposit, half what most offshore books want, and caps what a bonus can pay out at ten times its value. Minimum deposit and minimum withdrawal are both €10, the deposit needs one turnover, and payouts take one to five days by route. AUD accounts are supported and verification runs 24 to 48 hours. The catch is the thinnest cashier here: Skrill and Neteller, cards, bank transfer and six coins, with no voucher option at all.
Two more sites round out the table. Drakaris, launched in 2026 by Novatrix S.R.L. under Tobique Gaming Commission licence 0000002, holds AUD accounts and takes Apple Pay, Google Pay and Trustly Pay, with bank payouts up to three business days and a €20 floor - the highest here. StoneVegas, from NovaForge Ltd on an Anjouan licence, carries Pragmatic Play, Evolution and Big Time Gaming and pays fastest to e-wallets and crypto; its accounts are euro and Canadian dollar only, so an Australian converts twice.
A withdrawal from an offshore betting site takes 0-24 hours to an e-wallet or a crypto address and one to five business days by card or bank transfer, and the clock starts only once the bet is settled and your documents are approved. Credit cards are the part Australians trip over: the 2023 ban stopped licensed wagering operators from taking them, and banks decline offshore gambling attempts on them anyway. Debit cards get through more often than not.
Read three fields and you are done: the status on the record, the domains the licence authorises, and the company name - which is almost never the brand name you typed into Google. A footer number that doesn't resolve in the register, or resolves to a company with no live authorisation, ends the conversation. The lookup is walked through field by field on our casino MGA hub, and the same method works on a Curaçao or Anjouan record once you've found the right registry.
Screenshot your deposit confirmation and the bonus terms as they read on the day you accept them. If a dispute ever reaches a regulator or a payment provider, that screenshot is the evidence you will be asked for.
Want the broadest product on one account? AmunRa's 6,000 games and AUD balance make it the easiest pick. For getting paid quickly, WestAce's same-day e-wallet window is the one to beat, and LolaJack's 20x is the kindest bonus term here. None of them answers to a regulator like Malta's, so size the account accordingly.
Best for: live markets, an AUD balance and a 35x bonus - AmunRa
Weak on: withdrawal ceilings and the lack of a Malta-grade regulator
Avoid if: you want an Australian licence, BetStop coverage or credit-card funding
Bet with the e-wallet or coin you plan to withdraw to, verify before you fund, and keep stakes inside the daily ceiling.
Set a deposit limit on the day you open the account, and use the book's own cooling-off tool when a session stops being fun. Gambling Help Online runs free counselling and chat, and the National Gambling Helpline is on 1800 858 858, 24 hours a day - mobile call charges may apply. Betting is for adults 18 and over, and a bet is never a way to win back money already lost.
Online betting is legal in Australia through a bookmaker licensed by a state or territory regulator. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 prohibits providing online casino games and online in-play betting, and it binds operators rather than punters, so placing a bet offshore is not an offence for you.
Most Malta-licensed betting sites do not take Australian sign-ups, because an MGA licence is not an Australian wagering licence and those operators open accounts only in markets where they hold local permission. The offshore books on this page are the practical alternative, and four of the six keep balances in Australian dollars.
BetStop does not cover offshore betting sites. The national register binds Australian-licensed wagering providers, so an exclusion registered there does not block an account at a book licensed in Anjouan, Curaçao or Malta - those sites honour only the cooling-off tools in your own account settings.
You cannot bet online with a credit card in Australia: licensed wagering operators have been barred from accepting them since 2023, and Australian banks decline gambling attempts on credit cards at offshore books too. Debit cards, e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller, Neosurf vouchers and crypto are the routes that work.
Withdrawals at the betting sites on this page take 0-24 hours to an e-wallet or crypto wallet and one to five business days by card or bank transfer. Verification is the real variable: a first cash-out waits on a 24-48 hour document check, which you can clear before you ever fund the account.
